Victoria Falls straddles the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, a curtain of water over a mile wide dropping more than 100 meters into the Zambezi Gorge, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The spray is visible for miles, which is exactly how the falls earned their local name, Mosi-oa-Tunya, "The Smoke That Thunders."
Zimbabwe's side offers the wider, more panoramic view of the full falls. Zambia's side gets you closer and wetter, and is the access point for Devil's Pool, a natural pool right at the edge, only safely swimmable during the low-water season. Many visitors do both, the border crossing on foot is straightforward.
