North America

From New York's skyline to the national parks and coastlines beyond — real, fully-built destination guides, with more being added.

The Character of the Continent

Wilderness and City, Often a Short Drive Apart

Few regions let you move between genuine wilderness and dense urban life as quickly as North America does. Los Angeles sits within a few hours of Joshua Tree's desert silence; New York's density gives way, upstate, to genuine forest and mountain within a single day trip. The Grand Canyon and Yellowstone remain largely as they were carved and formed, protected at a scale most of the world can no longer match.

The continent's cities carry their own distinct registers, too. New Orleans moves to a rhythm shaped by French, Spanish, African, and Caribbean influence layered over centuries — genuinely unlike anywhere else on the continent. San Francisco and Chicago each built entire architectural identities around a single defining feature, a bay and a lakefront respectively, that still shape how each city functions today.

GoAtlas's North American guides cover both registers on purpose: the parks built around scale and silence, and the cities built around density and culture. Knowing which kind of trip you actually want changes almost everything about how to plan it.
